Marylin is based upon a Life Magazine cover which was first published on, September 7, 1964. The piece incorporates mixed media made up of hundreds of pieces of torn paper. This technique is used due to the artist sustaining hemiparesis as a result of a stroke, which limits the use of limbs on one side of her body.
